As a defense lawyer, Josh Fitzgerald does not believe being charged with a crime makes you a criminal; it simply means someone has made an accusation. That doesn’t mean you are guilty of anything.
Josh is vigilant about getting to the bottom of what actually happened, and he will help you aggressively attain the best outcome.
Josh Fitzgerald originally moved to Haines, Alaska in 2000 and fell in love with the state. He left to go to The University of Wyoming College of Law but knew he would return to Alaska to live and practice law.
His interest in criminal procedure and constitutional law led him to focus on criminal defense. He believes that locking someone behind bars is not likely the way to resolve what caused the event in the first place.
Josh moved to Kodiak in 2004 and then spent time as a public defender in Bethel. He decided to return to Kodiak, where he wanted to raise a family and start his private practice. He lives in Kodiak with his wife and children and has been serving the people of Kodiak Island since 2008.
Over the years, Josh has effectively represented people from over 50 Alaska towns and villages. He describes his clients as “incredible characters” who have had fascinating human experiences.
